Miami’s 2024 recruiting class was made possible by a number of people, one of whom Hurricanes supporters might not be familiar with.
One diligent person in Miami’s football office is familiar with the subtleties of recruiting in South Florida, which is a talent-rich region, as well as around the country. He had to be the anchor that kept Mario Cristobal’s elite class together, which allowed the Canes to rise to the position of 247’s No. 4 recruiting class.
Steve Wiltfong of 247 claims that Dennis Smith of Miami is a major factor in the Hurricanes’ decision to sign top players.
Dennis Smith, the executive director of Miami, influences every aspect of the organization, including talent acquisition, and is as well-known as any off-field recruitment department in the county. His role in the Hurricanes landing class was crucial.Smith does, in fact, assist the Hurricanes in a variety of ways, one of which is by cultivating connections with recruiters around the country. Amazingly, Miami’s efforts have led to the acquisition of Lightfoot, the best pass rusher from Chicago. However, the most significant connections and recruiting successes have occurred near Miami’s campus, and he is accustomed to living in Dade County.
The Hurricanes have nine prospects in total from Dade and Broward counties. Local talent visits The U. when Miami wins big, and Smith’s fingerprints are all over those recruits.
Smith worked with Cristobal at FIU from 2007 to 2012 and graduated from Miami in 2005. During his tenure with the Panthers, he had a variety of positions, including director of personnel and later coordinator of recruitment. Smith is familiar with the recruiting areas in South Florida.
