It’s always a good sign when a wide receiver recruit can make seven defenders miss in one play and score a touchdown.
Programs like Miami, Ohio State, Auburn, Clemson, Southern California, Wisconsin, Alabama, Oregon and Michigan certainly took note of that play, and likely many other milestone moments, and subsequently offered scholarships.
The 2025 recruit in question would be Vernell Brown III of Orlando (Fla.) Jones. The first part of his film HUDL is phenomenal.
To be fair, his film is full of impressive theatrics. He is as agile in space as any player in America.
Brown plays for the South Florida Express 7v7 and has also been tearing up the past few weekends. Here’s a video clip of John Garcia, Jr. from Rivals to help understand Brown’s skills.
Being the primary focus of an elite seven-on-seven organization and playing back-to-back tournaments in the Miami area allowed him to visit the Canes.
I’ve been tracking him for some time now. Brown received his UM offer on June 25, 2023.
He has been a priority for UM receivers coach Kevin Beard and that’s not surprising.
Several college programs recently stopped by Jones High School to check on Brown and some of his teammates.
Alabama, UCF, Florida State, Louisville and Stanford are among the coaching staffs visiting since Jan. 24.
Brown’s GPA certainly turns heads, as do his exploits on the playing field. He’s 4.9, as his father proudly points out.
Besides his obvious speed, Brown has other qualities that coaches want on their college rosters.
