WR Adonai Mitchell of the Texas Longhorns is still considering his options. After the Sugar Bowl defeat
Adonai Mitchell may decide to declare for the draft the following week, or he may decide to stay in Austin for one more season.
The Texas Longhorns’ odds of winning a national championship are now 0 percent.
What is the current status of Adonai Mitchell’s prospects of coming back in 2024?
Following two seasons at Georgia, Mitchell transferred to Texas, but he remained vague about his status for the 2018 NFL Draft. He talked enthusiastically about his one and only season in Austin and how joining the Longhorns has benefited his career both on and off the pitch.
“I accomplished everything I set out to do when I arrived here,” Mitchell said to reporters after the game. I got to know many wonderful folks. I have many wonderful relationships. You know, my blood has always been Texas. All I want is to be happy that I could return home and play for my family.
It may sound as though Mitchell is prepared to move on to the next phase of his career. Is he? Maybe, but as of right now, nothing is confirmed.
Mitchell remarked, “I haven’t decided yet, but I’ll let y’all know.”
With a solid combine and pro day performance, Mitchell might wind up getting selected in the first round come April, depending on his output. The 6-4 Texas native assisted the No. 3 Longhorns in winning their first conference championship since 2009 by hauling in a career-high 55 passes for 847 yards and 11 touchdowns.
It could seem like Mitchell is ready to advance to the next stage of his profession. Is he? Perhaps, although nothing is verified as of yet.
“I haven’t decided yet, but I’ll let y’all know,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell might end up being taken in the first round come April if he puts up a strong combine and pro day performance. The 6-4 Texas native caught a career-high 55 catches for 847 yards and 11 touchdowns, helping the No. 3 Longhorns capture their first conference title since 2009.
“There is no need for anybody to hang their head, you know? It was a great season.” stated Mitchell. There isn’t just one man at fault. Together, we went into battle and gave it our all. We just had a fantastic team game. We’ve completed this as a team. All we can do right now is think back on the experiences we experienced.
If Mitchell is selected in the draft, the Longhorns should be happy with the state of their receiving room. With Johntay Cook joining the Longhorns as their new vertical receiver, anticipate him to play a bigger role. Matthew Golden, a transfer from Houston who will still be eligible for two years, was also acquired by Texas.
