The New York Giants close out the regular season Sunday afternoon against the Philadelphia Eagles, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still a little tinkering to be done on the roster.

The Giants signed rookie linebacker Jeremiah Martin to their practice squad on Monday.Martin, 24, was signed by the Cleveland Browns after being drafted to Washington last April.

However, he was released as part of the final draft picks and remained without a contract until general manager Joe Schoen picked him up on the road.

Martin was named to the All-Pac-12 first team in 2022 after recording 41 tackles (21 solo, 11 for a loss), two forced fumbles, one pass defended and 8.5 sacks.

It was a career season for the 6-foot-1, 265-pounder, who saw little action at Texas A&M before his transfer.Jeremiah Martin is a big, thick, smooth, athletic runner.

He lacks curvature, but otherwise he’s a very impressive athlete for his size. He is a refined pass rusher who wins with a variety of moves.

A little conversion from speed to power and it responds great. He showed a nice spinning move.

He is a solid run defender, gets a solid lead and chases from behind. Due to his mass and energy, he is not easy to move in the running game. Bending is a problem.

He uses length to keep blockers away from his body. You rarely see him on the ground due to his good build.

He’s a ready-made three-down EDGE with a polished game as a pass rusher.
