Wanderers are delighted to confirm the signing of striker Aaron Collins in a major deal for the club, writes Pete Oliver.
The Whites have paid an undisclosed fee to sign the 26-year-old from Bristol Rovers on a contract that runs until June 2027.
Collins – the latest League One player of the year after scoring 16 goals for Pirates – is Wanderers’ third signing of the winter transfer window and will wear the number 28 shirt
.The Welshman, who also led Rovers’ successful promotion to League Two in 2022, will significantly improve Wanderers’ current attacking options as the Whites look to continue their promotion challenge and prepare for the future.
Collins, a creative player whose assists and goalscoring statistics are also the second in League One this season, will add an extra dimension to a strike force which already boasts Dion Charles, Victor Adeboyejo, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Cameron Jerome.
With Dan Nlundulu currently injured, manager Ian Evatt was looking to bring in another striker in the short and long term and is happy to have achieved his main target in Collins, who has scored 35 league goals in just 118 appearances for Rovers following previous spells at Newport County, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Morecambe and Forest Green.
“The board has fully supported Chris (Markham) and I and thanks them for their support in getting the deal done and I look forward to working with Aaron,” Evatt said.
