- noFLORIDA, TALLAHASSEE (AP) – Late in the first quarter, Florida State trailed by two scores after losing starting quarterback Jordan Travis to injury. Despite their obvious emotions, the Seminoles reacted fast and united behind backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker.
After Travis suffered a serious leg injury in the first quarter, fourth-ranked Florida State reorganized around backup Tate Rodemaker, who led the Seminoles to a 58–13 victory over North Alabama on Saturday night.
Late in the first quarter, during a run up the middle, Travis was hurt. Travis was taken out after having his leg fitted with an air cast.
Coach Mike Norvell of Florida State stated, “Nobody ever wants to see a player go down. That was something that happened to Jordan.” “At this time, I have no new information on it. However, I was pleased with how our players responded during the match.
In an attempt to hold onto the No. 4 slot in the College Football Playoff rankings, Rodemaker completed 13 of 23 throws for 217 yards, including touchdown passes to Keon Coleman and Caziah Holmes. The Seminoles (11-0) won their 17th consecutive game.
With 70 career passes going into the game, the redshirt junior’s was the most playing time he had seen since replacing an injured Travis to help Florida State defeat Louisville in September 2022.
“Wherever he found the ball, he made a few excellent progressional and reading decisions,” Norvell remarked. “He demonstrated the amount of work he had been doing. When his number was called, he was prepared for his moment.
Even though Rodemaker made a few mistakes that caused some drives to stall, he remained composed in the face of pressure. If Travis is truly out for the next three weeks, he may face greater pressure in the form of an ACC title game and a showdown at Florida.
The tailback Lawrance Toafili stated, “He has been preparing for this.” I’m certain he’s prepared. He’s prepared to take the lead.
Trey Benson, Holmes, and Toafili also scored touchdowns, with CJ Campbell scoring a 70-yard touchdown run.
