The Kick Six now has company, nearly a decade after the most unlikely play in Iron Bowl history.

Not 8 On a miraculous play, Alabama prevailed 27–24 over Auburn to avoid an upset. The game became an instant classic.

With 6:19 remaining, the Crimson Tide got the ball, but Auburn forced a three-and-out. Later on, though, Alabama recovered at the Auburn 30-yard line after the Tigers mishandled a punt.

Even though Alabama had a first down, they later faced a third and twenty. It was fourth and one for the Tide after Jalen Milroe ran for 19 yards before being tackled.

Alabama made the first save. However, Milroe was unprepared for a snap on second down, which forced Alabama to back up to the 26-yard line. After Milroe illegally passed beyond the line of scrimmage on third down, Bama was forced to return to the 31 for a fourth and goal.

Based on ESPN’s win probability, Auburn had a 99.9% chance of winning at this point, but Alabama won.

After Milroe managed to locate Isaiah Bond in the back corner of the end zone, the Tide took a 27–24 lead thanks to the PAT.

After Auburn fumbled on the opening play of the subsequent drive, Payton Thorne threw an interception to end the game as the Tigers rushed to get one last snap.

Towards the end of the second quarter, Auburn took its first lead. The Tigers led 14–10 when Ja’Varrius Johnson ran the last 12 yards into the end zone following Damari Alston’s 56-yard run. Just before the half, Milroe found Jermaine Burton for 68 yards, putting Bama up 17-14 on its third play of the following drive.

Early in the third quarter, Alabama attempted a field goal, but Auburn responded with a touchdown from Johnson, his second of the game, and the PAT made the score 21–20. Alabama’s first down was nullified by a personal foul, and the Crimson Tide then failed to convert a 42-yard field goal that would have given them the lead two plays later. With 10:15 remaining, Auburn answered with a field goal of their own to take a four-point lead, but that would be the last time the Tigers would lead.
