Ronnie O’Sullivan has revealed he is more interested in the price of a ‘167 break’ than the benefits Saudi Arabia would bring in the first place.
Saudi Arabia will host the first season of the World Masters of Snooker in Riyadh from March 4-6, with O’Sullivan, Judd Trump and Luca Brecel among ten players taking part in the tournament. Normal World Snooker Tour rules apply to each game, with the exception of one new feature which is expected to be added.
A 23rd ball, known as the Riyad Season Ball, is added and is worth 20 points. However, the golden ball cannot be pocketed until all other balls have been pocketed and the player has taken maximum rest.
This would take the score from 147 to 167, making it the highest ever break in snooker history.
Asked about the tournament in Saudi Arabia, O’Sullivan replied: “What is the price of a 167? .
They are a powerful dress. It seems like all the other sports are doing things in Saudi Arabia, so it will be great to go out there.
”In a statement from the World Snooker Tour last week, HE councilor Turki Alalshikh said:
“We are delighted to host our first professional snooker tournament in the Kingdom.
Snooker is watched and played by millions of people around the world and We can’t wait to welcome some of snooker’s greatest players and fans to our country and showcase what Saudi Arabia and the Riyadh season has to offer.
