Jamie Jaquez is simply more required than anticipated.

Without Jaquez in the starting lineup, the Miami Heat are 1-5. His return from injury won’t solve all of their problems, but he does clean up a lot.

The obvious thing that the Heat are lacking is Jaquez’s ability to create easy buckets and opportunities. He frequently cuts back doors for simple layups or crashes the boards for putbacks.

During this current five-game losing run, that aspect of the Heat offence has been completely absent. Jaquez had averaged 17 points and five rebounds in his previous four games prior to his groyne injury.

Although Jaquez’s contributions don’t always show up on the stat sheet, his influence is noticeable. He is a rookie, yet his composure and patience are remarkable.

Jaquez never seems to be forcing a basket; everything always happens naturally in the flow of the play. With so many mouths to feed these days, a hookup is necessary.

“[The Heat] have a bunch of guys right now that kind of stand around when they don’t have it, get it, and then they want to put it down and call for another screen.” Tim Legler of ESPN stated on Zach Lowe’s programme.
