Laila Rouass, the girlfriend of Ronnie O’Sullivan, has entered the turbulent relationship between her partner and longtime opponent Ali Carter.
In January, the world champion who broke records defeated Carter 10-7 in the nation’s capital to win the Masters once more, but the match was nearly overshadowed by long-simmering animosity between the two.
Following his triumph, O’Sullivan unleashed a barrage of derogatory remarks directed towards the 44-year-old. He called Carter a “f***ing nightmare” and said he needed a “counsellor,” engaging in a heated tirade in reaction to his opponent’s assertions that he had “snotted on the floor” during the fight.
The World Snooker Tour is presently looking into the 48-year-old’s outburst, but in the meanwhile, the players traded barbs, with Carter calling O’Sullivan “not that well mentally” and saying he feels “sorry for him.”
Resurfaced remarks by Carter regarding O’Sullivan’s chances of winning another World Championship following his sixth, however, prompted the actress to join the debate on social media in support of her boyfriend.
Rouass posted on her private Instagram account, “Ali Carter said four or five years ago that Ronnie doesn’t have another World Championship win in him,” according to the Mirror. “What action did he take?
“He went out and prevailed.” Ali Carter, that didn’t age well, did it?
Now shut up and behave well, boy. Pay attention to your snooker.
Following his record-tying seventh Masters victory at the beginning of the month, O’Sullivan has had little trouble concentrating on his game. This week, he came from behind to win the World Grand Prix in Leicester.
After falling behind 4-0 to Judd Trump in Leicester, the snooker maestro rallied to win 10–7.
