Undoubtedly, the Nebraska football team is quite satisfied with the player who is anticipated to start at quarterback in 2024. But some other Big Ten football clubs are also very pleased with the quarterbacks they will start with in the autumn of next season. This morning, one of the newest Big Ten teams is probably ecstatic. This is due to the fact that Will Rogers, a transfer quarterback, was allowed to remain in the program by the Washington Huskies when he first reentered the transfer portal earlier this month.
Rogers had a change of heart and chose to remain at his new school, according to a Tuesday night story from ESPN’s Pete Thamel. On Tuesday, Rogers informed Jedd Fisch, the new head coach of Washington, of his decision. To continue with the program, he has gone back to school.
Given that Fisch has only been the Huskies’ head coach for a little over ten days, Rogers’ decision to stay put could be seen as the first major victory for the coach. Naturally, Fisch took over for Kalen Deboer, who was brought on by the Alabama Crimson Tide following Nick Saban’s retirement announcement.Shortly after Fisch was appointed as Deboer’s replacement, Rogers declared he was returning to the gateway. Earlier this winter, after attending Mississippi State for his first four years of college, he had transferred to one of the newest Big Ten universities.
Washington and Rogers won’t be playing for Nebraska football fans this season, unless both teams get to the Big Ten Championship game. Rogers could still have an impact on how the Huskers’ season plays out, though, given the divisions are ending.
Rogers is among the few Big Ten transfer quarterbacks who will be joining new clubs in 2024. He joins players like Ohio State’s Will Howard, a former Nebraska football target, and Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel on the roster.
