Ryan Williams, a five-star receiver and former Alabama recruit, has cancelled his trip to Austin to visit the Texas Longhorns.
According to reports from On3, five-star 2024 wide receiver Ryan Williams will no longer visit the Texas Longhorns. His visit was slated for this coming weekend.
Williams is returning from visits to Tuscaloosa and College Station and is expected to visit Auburn on February 3.
Williams, who recently reclassified from the 2025 to the 2024 classes, decommitted from Alabama when legendary coach Nick Saban retired.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, he is now ranked as the 12th best player in the country, the fourth best wide receiver, and the second best player in Alabama. Prior to his reclassification, Williams was the top receiver in the 2025 class.
Williams is also teammates with K.J. Lacey, a 2025 Longhorns quarterback commit.
Over the last two seasons, with Lacey throwing him the ball, Williams has 160 catches for 2,965 yards and 43 touchdowns, making him one of the most exciting quarterback/wide receiver pairings in the country.
The Longhorns were expecting to add Williams to a club that is looking to replace Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell, Jordan Whittington, and Ja’Tavion Sanders, who have all left for the NFL with 217 catches, 3,046 yards, and 19 touchdowns.
However, it appears like the Horns may have dropped out of the race.
However, with the additions of Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, and Silas Bolden, as well as Johntay Cook II, DeAndre Moore, five-star freshman Ryan Wingo, and four-stars Aaron Butler, Parker Livingstone, and Freddie Dubose Jr., Austin will still have plenty of potential at the position.
