When Florida State’s coaching staff was able to acquire Georgia sophomore defensive end transfer Marvin Jones Jr., supporters went crazy. The father of the gifted pass rusher, Marvin Jones Sr., was a linebacker for the Seminoles from 1990 to 1992.

The influence of the younger Jones was little. During his two-year playing career, he only amassed 16 total tackles and 2 sacks with the Georgia Bulldogs. The Seminoles do, however, have some significant picks up for grabs because redshirt junior defensive end Jared Verse has chosen to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.

Jones Jr. was formerly rated as a five-star talent for the 2022 class. At the time, Florida State showed a lot of interest in the gifted South Florida native. But because of how the Georgia Bulldogs were producing NFL players, he made the decision to sign with them.

The transfer portal is something that is being used a lot in the current state of college football. Jones Jr. declared his plan to sign with Florida State after he did not perceive a significant number of opportunities.

Like his father, fans should be ecstatic to play with Shade Tree’s son in the video game, and opposition offensive lines should be afraid of the legacy prospect.
