KOLN (LINCOLN, Neb.) – Nebraska football player was arrested for burglary two days prior to the season opener.
Tuesday at two in the morning, according to Lincoln Police, 21-year-old Arik Gilbert broke into Sj’s Liquor and Vape at 27th and O Streets.
A man can be seen breaking into the store and going through the products on surveillance footage that was taken from the establishment. Police said that large pieces of cement from a nearby parking lot were used to shatter the glass at the front entrance.
Gilbert allegedly took goods worth $1,600, including lighters, cigars, Delta 8, and vaping supplies. Lincoln Police officers are seen waiting at the door where the suspect is handcuffed in the CCTV footage.
Gilbert showed up in court on Tuesday to be arraigned.
Rhule remarked, “Obviously, really disappointed, really sad for him.” “We knew we had a great group of individuals who would support Arik as he worked through some of the challenges he was facing when we brought him here. I am quite pleased with the work he completed throughout the spring and summer. He’s been fighting to overcome certain challenges that he’s had during camp, to be honest. Even though a wonderful bunch of folks are here attempting to assist him, last night plainly transpires.
