Robert Snodgrass, a former player for Norwich City and Leeds United, writes an emotional farewell note
Throughout his career, Robert Snodgrass played for a variety of teams, including West Ham United, Leeds United, Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion, and Luton Town.
After a 20-year playing career, former Leeds United winger Robert Snodgrass has announced his retirement. The 36-year-old had time with the Whites, Norwich City, Hull City, West Ham United, Aston Villa, West Brom and Luton Town after beginning his career at Livingston.
Before signing for the Canaries in July 2012, Snodgrass played for United for four years at Elland Road, totaling over 150 appearances. The 36-year-old honoured everyone who contributed to the overall success of his career in a touching Instagram post.
“I have officially retired and decided to call it a day and hang up my boots after 20 years of playing professional football,” the Scotland international stated.
“For twenty years, a small boy from Glasgow’s east end was able to fulfil his childhood ambition of performing at ten fantastic venues, meeting incredible people, and forming bonds with the personnel and patrons of those establishments. I never would have thought that I would get to play football for my nation, play over 600 games, score over 100 goals, and provide over 100 assists. In 2014, I was told that I would not be able to play football again due to a career-ending knee injury. I’m thankful to have returned and played an additional 250+ games.
“I am really grateful for the support and presence of my family, friends, and agents. Without all of your support, I could not have played for as long.
