After the season, Gilber Edmond (transfer) and Jared Verse (NFL) left Florida State, forcing the team to make changes to their defensive end room. After exploring the NCAA Transfer Portal, the Seminoles added three players: Sione Lolohea from Oregon State, Tomiwe Durojaiye from West Virginia, and Marvin Jones Jr. from Georgia.
After almost two weeks on the portal, Edmond made his transfer decision public on Monday afternoon. His final season of eligibility will be spent with the team where he started his college career. Edmond is returning as a graduate transfer to South Carolina.
As a rotational defensive end, Edmond played in all 14 games, logging 322 defensive snaps with 23 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble. The Seminoles elected to give Byron Turner Jr. the start opposite of Patrick Payton in the Orange Bowl after Jared Verse sat out of the contest to prepare for the NFL.

The first three years of the Florida native’s career were spent with the Gamecocks. In 2022, he had 39 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and two sacks—his most prolific season. At South Carolina, he finished with 44 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks (and he gets to add to that number now).
Jones Jr., Durojaiye, Lolohea, redshirt junior Patrick Payton, redshirt junior Byron Turner Jr., redshirt junior Jaden Jones, redshirt freshman Lamont Green Jr., and true freshman DD Holmes are among the defensive end players that Florida State will field.
