Nabi will also find some familiar faces when the meets up with Chiefs in Turkey imminently. hese in the sense of assistant coach Fernando Da Cruz and goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi. The duo had already been at Naturena for two weeks, putting the returning squad members through their paces. There is also the new conditioning coach Majdi Safi.
Furthermore, the tactician will be arriving with other members of his new technical staff in second assistant Khalil Ben Youssef, and performance analyst Ayman Makroud. Nabi and the duo do not seem to be the only new additions that will be in Turkey for Chiefs.
Besides the coaching staff, there are three new players that Nabi will assess. One being a senior and well established player, the others being two club juniors. Bongani Sam has all but completed his historic move from Orlando Pirates to Chiefs this week. The Gqeberha-born left back has been in the wilderness for two seasons at the Buccaneers. His link to Amakhosi came as a shock.
This because he is still contracted to Pirates, but also because Sam was inactive since January after leaving Moroka Swallows. He will now be hoping for a new lease on life at Chiefs, with the left back slot available after Sifiso Hlanti’s exit.
Along Sam, there will be two youngsters from the Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge side that have travelled. One being midfielder Siphesihle Tati and the other being left sided midfielder/winger Nkosana Mbuthu.
With the likes of Siyethemba Sithebe and Keagan Dolly gone, Tati and Mbuthu could get a big opportunity. They will be working hard now to impress Nabi in Turkey.
