I am wondering if the Vikings would sit JJ McCarthy for more than one season if Sam Darnold plays well and they bring him back? Other folks have wrote about this already but I am just asking how the fans here would feel?

I think that they should take their time with him and could roll with Mullens if Darnold goes down. That would surely put KOC on the hot seat especially if other rookies are playing. I think he should stick to his guns no matter what decision he makes. If he thinks it is in JJ’s best interest to sit then that is what he should do. The fans will be calling for him to play but once he gets put in, I do not think you want to take him out.

I would not be upset if the sat for more than one season. I kind of doubt that happens but if it did, then he will be even more ready when he does take the field.

A little note about the 26M in cap space. That is without McCarthy and Turner who, once signed, will displace the bottom two spots in the top 51 which are at 985K. They will cost about 5M more. That takes it down to 21M. Then, they need 3M for the practice squad players, 2M for the players at spots 52 & 53 (in season the cap space is based on the top 53), and whatever amount they want for any moves they might make during the season. They could be looking at about 16M of cap space available for any moves before or during the season which might include an extension or two.
