“You know on one hand, it’s tough. But I look around the league, and there is a team that has managed to do it, and that’s the Philadelphia Eagles,” Barnwell explained. “They are spending $213 million in cash on their offense this year, the most for any team in the history of the National Football League. But think about all the players they have afforded to pay on the offensive side of the roster.
“[Quarterback] Jalen Hurts making a market deal. [Running back] Saquon Barkley. Two star receivers in A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. [Tight end] Dallas Goedert. [Left tackle] Jordan Mailata. [Right tackle] Lane Johnson. [Center] Landon Dickerson. They’re sort of playing the, ‘Hey, you can have your cake and eat it too scenario on offense.’”
“There have been conversations (about Aiyuk) at various points with other teams where they asked if he were available,” Schefter continued. “The Niners never were serious about trading him, and they want him back. But the problem is they can’t get a deal done right now, so Brandon Aiyuk is interpreting that as they don’t want me anymore.
“No, they want him here. They just don’t want him at the number that he wants to be there at, with what the wide receivers are going for in this day and age.”
“I took a week,” Purdy recently said in an interview for Recover Organic Hydration 180. “Went back home for my buddy’s wedding in Arizona, and then I got back to California. And I have footballs in my room, so I was already just envisioning, ‘All right, when am I going to get back after it?’
“So obviously, it didn’t end how we wanted it to, but for us moving forward, that gives us a taste in our mouth, like, ‘All right, we were right there, and we’ve got to finish.’ So for me, it gives me some fuel to the fire for training.”
When asked if he ever thinks about taking any days off, Purdy responded, “No, you can’t, not in this league.
Although, there was one exception this offseason.
“Yeah, I got married,” Purdy stated. “That was a day off. It was awesome. Got to marry my best friend, and we get to do life together.”
