Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has become the team’s top free agent for the 2023 season.
On a team that included Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow and rising rookie tight end Michael Mayer, Meyers finished the season second in team receiving yards (807) and led all players in touchdowns with 10 (two yards rushing and eight receiving yards).
He also threw a touchdown pass.Meyers’ eight receiving touchdowns matched his total receiving touchdowns recorded in his four seasons with the New England Patriots.
In fact, he didn’t even score a touchdown in his first two NFL seasons.

He was well known to then-Raiders coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler from their years in New England.
With an annual average of $11 million, Meyers is the 25th highest-paid receiver heading into the 2023 NFL season.
He was the third highest paid player on the Raiders roster, behind only Adams and Renfrow.
The former undrafted free agent immediately made his presence felt as a Raider as he augured Las Vegas a 17-16 Week 1 win over the Denver Broncos with an 81-yard, two-touchdown performance.
It was clear from the start that the Raiders’ investment in the fifth-year pro was worth it.While Adams was still Vegas’ best receiver this season, Meyers was perhaps the most consistent.
His role with the Raiders will be crucial in the coming years, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Adams and Renfrow’s futures with the Silver and Black.
If it gets to the point where Meyers is the team’s first pick, his veteran experience will also help develop 22-year-old wide receiver Tre Tucker, whose upside is incredibly promising.
The NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, February 27-March 4, 2024.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan, April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders will hold the No. 13 pick in absolute.
