FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas pitchers Christian Foutch and Gabe Gaeckle have been invited to the 2024 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp.
The training camp will feature 56 of the premier non-draft-eligible college players for a two-game Stars vs. Stripes intrasquad series on June 26-27 in Cary, N.C. USA Baseball will name the final Collegiate National Team – inclusive of an International Friendship Series roster and a Summer League Tour roster – following the training camp on June 29.
Foutch posted a 1-0 record with a 0.81 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 22.1 innings of work over 20 relief appearances during his sophomore campaign. The hard-throwing right-hander from Littleton, Colo., who also logged one save on the year, finished the 2024 season with the lowest ERA by a Razorback pitcher to appear in at least 20 percent of the team’s games since Kevin Kopps recorded a 0.90 ERA in 89.2 innings over 33 appearances during his historic 2021 season.
Gaeckle, meanwhile, emerged as the Hogs’ most dependable bullpen arm during the 2024 campaign, becoming the fifth Arkansas freshman pitcher since 2003, Dave Van Horn’s first year as head coach, to record five or more saves in a season. The right-hander from Aptos, Calif., who was named to the Freshman All-SEC Team, went 3-3 and carded a team-leading seven saves, including six multi-inning saves, with a 2.32 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 42.2 innings of relief.
Both training camp games will be played at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on June 26-27 in Cary, N.C, with first pitch of both games scheduled for 6:35 p.m. ET. The International Friendship Series roster will then take on Chinese Taipei in a five-game series, while the Summer League Tour roster will take on select teams from the Appalachian League and Coastal Plain League in a four-game slate. The schedule will culminate with a Fourth of July matchup between the two Collegiate National Team rosters in Fayetteville, N.C.
