After serving a 12-game suspension, Draymond Green excitedly makes his way back to Warriors practice. The Golden State star acknowledges, “I’ve cost my team enough.”
Two days after serving a 12-game suspension and being allowed to return to the Golden State Warriors’ practice court, Draymond Green has acknowledged that he has “cost” his team enough.
On Sunday, the 33-year-old power forward was benched for the first time this season as the Warriors suffered a 133-118 home defeat to the Toronto Raptors. Throughout the game, Green participated in the huddles during timeouts.
During a press conference on Tuesday, the four-time All-Star was asked if he felt pressure to return to the court with his teammates. He replied, “It’s very urgent because I’ve cost my team enough.” I’ve already incurred enough costs to this organisation; now is not the moment for me to simply return and say, “Okay, I’ll take my time and get back when I can.”
“No,” Green continued. “You deserve no grace because you are the one who caused this.” And even though our organisation, No. 1, has my sincere gratitude for its assistance. However, No. 2, as in, they’re organising the strategy here. I would really love to return and play right now, if it were up to me. In all honesty, I don’t think it’s the best thing for me or the ideal goal from an organisational perspective.
However, there is a human element to this as well. As a competitor, you want to support these games when you sit at home and watch them.
