Hailie Deegan a NASCAR driver, made a stop in Charleston Tuesday to give back and spend time with families at the Ronald McDonald House.

Deegan is partnering with Airbox to install air purifiers at the facility.

Ronald McDonald House Charities gives families a place to stay while their children undergo medical treatment.

“A lot of people here are going through tough times,” Deegan said. “To have a good support system of people that truly care and people who are trying to help, I think that goes a long way.”

The families will also get to see Deegan race in Darlington in May.

Debbie Antonelli knows her basketball. She’s nationally renowned as an analyst, working games for ESPN, Fox, and CBS among others. She’s also become a fixture in the Lowcountry.

Once a year, Antonelli hits the court in her own Mount Pleasant backyard to shoot free throws for 24 straight hours to raise money for the Special Olympics. Now in its sixth year, “Nothing but Net” is set to surpass $1 million dollars in donations.

“I am so emotional about it because it’s not something I thought we would ever be talking about,” Antonelli said. “A million dollars for Special Olympics in my driveway.”

Spanning six years and more than 14,000 free throws, “Nothing but Net” is a labor of love for Debbie Antonelli and a way to give back to her son Frankie. She says the Special Olympics made all the difference for him.
