Roosters players have made it clear they want Angus Crichton to extend his stay at the club as the back-rower weighs up his options following the club’s decision to sign David Fifita next year.

Crichton, 28, has been the “benchmark” edge forward in the NRL this season according to Victor Radley, but the Kangaroos star isn’t sure if he’ll still be at the Roosters next year given Fifita plays in the same position.

“I love Angus, he’s kind of the benchmark back-rower this season, especially this last month. You obviously want to keep him. That’s up to the club and Angus to deal with,” Radley said, calling for Crichton to be picked in the NSW side.

“For the meantime, I just want to see him be his best, which he’s been doing.

“I just want to play footy with him. He’s an absolute weapon. I don’t think we should start talking about (him leaving). Let him deal with his future and that’s it.”

Roosters winger Dom Young is still new at the club but would hate to see Crichton go after his incredible run of form on the left edge after starting the year in reserve grade.

The problem is Crichton has said he doesn’t want to play second fiddle to Fifita, and while the Roosters have plenty of cash to splash, they won’t want to invest too heavily in the back row given they’ve already got a number of talented players in that position.
