The Detroit Lions signed a ton of undrafted free agents to bolster their roster, which could include up to 90 players, after the 2024 NFL Draft. To be clear, though, the team hasn’t yet officially announced its additions.

Undrafted free agents have a chance to make a 53-man roster every year in the NFL, but the majority of those players are cut, with practice squad status being the best-case scenario.

In light of this, we’re examining the three Detroit Lions undrafted free agents who, coming out of training camp, have the best chance of making the starting 53-man roster.

It’s obvious that the Lions have high regard for Williams because they gave him a big UDFA deal with $225,000 guaranteed. The fact that Detroit’s depth is a question mark is another advantage Williams has.

With 1,055 yards and five touchdowns in 2023, the 5-foot-9, 182-pound Illinois product saved his best college season for last. Though he has experience working outside the slot, the slot is probably where he fits best.

Similar to Williams, Eguakun agreed to a large UDFA contract ($245,000 guaranteed), and given that Frank Ragnow may retire after the 2024 season, he is playing a position where the Lions could use depth and a future starting option.

The Florida product is also helped by the fact that he should be able to play guard, which is another position where Detroit needs depth and where he could eventually start.
