A potential coaching shake-up at the Penrith Panthers would send shockwaves through the National Rugby League (NRL), with supporters eager to learn what the future holds for the club’s head coach, Ivan Cleary.
Cleary has played a major role in the Panthers’ success, guiding the team through one of the most successful periods in its history. However, any rumours about a possible departure would naturally raise questions among supporters about the club’s leadership, future direction and plans for the seasons ahead.
Despite the speculation, there is no verified announcement that Ivan Cleary has been sacked indefinitely. In an official announcement on May 13, 2026, Penrith confirmed that Cleary would remain head coach for the 2026 and 2027 NRL seasons before assistant coach Peter Wallace takes over in 2028.
The Panthers have therefore outlined a succession plan rather than announced an immediate dismissal. Cleary is expected to continue leading the team as the club prepares for its next chapter.
Penrith supporters will be watching closely for further updates as the season progresses. Can Cleary continue to lead the Panthers to success before his planned departure, or will the club face unexpected changes before then?
