Reports circulating on social media have claimed that referee Andy Madley could face severe disciplinary action following the controversial Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Manchester City, which ended in a 1–4 victory for City.

The claims allege that Pro Ref, formerly known as Professional Game Match Officials (PGMO), has taken action through Chief Refereeing Officer Howard Webb and Chief Operating Officer Danielle Every.

However, these claims have not been independently confirmed by Pro Ref or other reliable official sources at the time of writing.

The match at Selhurst Park ended 1–4, with Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland scoring twice each, while Crystal Palace’s goal was credited as a Gianluigi Donnarumma own goal. Andrew Madley was listed as the match referee.

Social media users have raised questions about several decisions made during the encounter, leading to widespread debate among supporters. But it remains important to distinguish fan reactions and online rumours from officially confirmed disciplinary action.

Pro Ref officially adopted its new identity in June 2026 as part of changes to professional refereeing in English football.
