The Milwaukee Brewers have officially made a roster move involving left-handed pitcher Drew Rom, designating him for assignment on August 9, 2026. The move was recorded in the Brewers’ official transaction log as the club adjusted its roster during the season.

Rom had spent time moving between Milwaukee and Triple-A Nashville during the 2026 season. The Brewers selected his contract from Nashville on June 6 before optioning him back to the minors on several occasions as the organization managed its pitching depth.

The designation for assignment meant that Rom’s future with Milwaukee would be determined through the waiver process. That process was completed when the Athletics claimed Rom off waivers on August 11, ending his time in the Brewers organization.

The move highlights the competitive nature of MLB roster management, particularly as teams make adjustments during the second half of the season. For Rom, the waiver claim gives him a new opportunity to continue his career with Oakland.
