Tottenham Hotspur have made a major move in their pursuit of Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, with reports indicating that the Netherlands international has reached an agreement in principle over a potential move to North London.

Gakpo has emerged as one of Tottenham’s leading attacking targets, with manager Roberto De Zerbi reportedly keen to add the versatile forward to his squad. The 27-year-old can operate primarily from the left wing but is also capable of playing through the centre.

Reports indicate that Tottenham have made a proposal of more than £60 million, while Liverpool are believed to be seeking a higher fee. The two clubs therefore still need to reach a final financial agreement before the transfer can be completed.

Gakpo’s potential arrival would give Spurs another dangerous attacking option. His pace, physical strength, finishing ability and versatility could make him an important player in De Zerbi’s system.

Despite the excitement surrounding the “DEAL ACCEPTED” headline, the transfer should not yet be described as officially completed. Reports indicate that personal terms or an agreement in principle have been reached, but the final agreement between Tottenham and Liverpool remains the key step.
