Chelsea FC have reportedly completed one of the biggest transfer coups of the summer after sensationally hijacking Arsenal’s pursuit of Sunderland AFC defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka in a blockbuster deal believed to be worth €70 million.

According to reports, Arsenal had been leading the race for the experienced midfield star and were confident of reaching an agreement before Chelsea made a late move. The Blues are said to have accelerated negotiations over the past 48 hours, convincing both Sunderland and the player with an improved financial package and a long-term contract.

The dramatic turnaround has left Arsenal supporters stunned, as the North London club had viewed Xhaka as a priority signing to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new campaign. Chelsea, however, acted swiftly to secure the deal, underlining their ambition to challenge for major honours this season.

If officially confirmed, Xhaka is expected to undergo a medical before being unveiled as Chelsea’s newest signing. His leadership, defensive qualities, and vast top-level experience are expected to add strength and stability to the Blues’ midfield.
