Dr. Kishore Shallow, the president of Cricket West Indies, has cautioned that there is no “quick fix” for the problems plaguing the sport and has urged stakeholders to work together to create “sustainable solutions.”

Prior to his attendance at the West Indies Cricket Regional Conference, which gets underway in Port of Spain on Thursday, Dr. Shallow stated that “shared responsibility and collective action” will be necessary to bring the game back to its previous level of prominence in the area.

“While CWI has made significant strides in improving West Indies cricket, we must acknowledge that there is no short cut to solving the many problems that confront our game. All parties engaged must participate and put in consistent effort,” Dr. Shallow argued.

Even if CWI bears a large share of the blame, we recognize that big advancements cannot be made in silos.

“Together with CARICOM Governments, territorial boards, and other pertinent entities, it is imperative that all stakeholders actively participate in and contribute to the advancement of West Indies cricket,” he continued.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley of Trinidad and Tobago is hosting the conference, which has as its theme “Reinvigorating West Indies Cricket – A Symposium for Strategic Collaboration and Innovation.” It is being organized in conjunction with the regional nation grouping CARICOM.
