Florida State football is currently ranked 34th in the 2025 247Sports Composite rankings. However, this is not where the fan base wants the program to be given the program’s rich history and tradition.
However, individuals should be able to breathe easier because it is only April and the December Signing Period is still eight months away. While recruiting is always important for the coaching staff to develop relationships with highly-touted prospects, the target board will continue to expand as we enter the summer.
The Seminoles work very hard to get the prospects that fit the mold of what Florida State is as a program. There are certainly areas in recruiting that needs to be addressed given that there will be current players on the roster that graduate/transfer after the 2024 season.
I want to focus on three prospects within the 2025 cycle that need to be pursued heavily in this article.
After what a lot of people, and Seminole fans, would say was a controversial ending to the 2023 season for Florida State, the page has been turned to the NFL Draft. Several Seminoles declared for the NFL Draft after FSU was not selected to play in the College Football Playoff.
With the NFL Draft days away, several Seminoles will be anxiously awaiting to hear their names on the big stage. Here is a prediction on where each player that could be drafted will go.
Jared Verse comes into the draft as one of the top-rated Edge rushers in this entire draft class. In most mock drafts, experts have Verse going in the top 15 and with the Bears having two first-round picks this year, Verse would be a great pick for their defense.
The Bears are in desperate need of a quarterback after trading Justin Fields to the Steelers, so they will be able to fill that need with the first overall pick, but then they need to turn their sights to the defense, which is where Verse comes in.
Verse has an overall grade of 91 coming out of the Combine. His ability to jump off the line with speed and power to overwhelm blockers and get to the quarterback is elite. He knows how to disrupt plays even if he can’t fully get to the quarterback which makes him dangerous on the defensive line. He would be a great addition to a struggling Bears defense.
