Even though Jayden Daniels is now considered one of the best prospects in the 2024 NFL draft, some in the league are still trying to build more excitement around the Heisman Trophy winner.

According to an AFC executive who spoke with NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero, Daniels reminds him of a “poor man’s Lamar Jackson” due to his size, which may make him more prone to injuries.

“The main concern I’ve always had is how f—ing thin Daniels is. It’s all by f—ing design that he neglected to weigh in and snap a picture at the combine. He is aware of his f—ing thinness. You fear that he may suffer harm. But he has a chance because of his athleticism. I am aware that at LSU, they initially reduced the offensive pressure on him. They put more on him now, I believe. He runs quite fast. His gaze is lowered. He grows impatient and quick to get his hands on you. Additionally, he won’t be getting back up when he pulls that motherfucker down.”

Pelissero pointed out that an AFC quarterbacks coach refuted the Jackson analogy, citing Daniels’ superior straight-line speed over his avoidance of contact.

Only Will Levis has a higher pressure-to-sack ratio among quarterbacks selected in the past two years than Daniels, who has taken 65 sacks in those two seasons.
