Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz headline the Roland Garros entry list, which was released Tuesday. Djokovic, a three-time titlist at the clay-court major, is the defending champion.
The World No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings could come under fire for top spot from World No. 2 Jannik Sinner, this year’s Australian Open, Miami and Rotterdam champion. The Italian’s best Roland Garros showing came on his debut in 2020, when he advanced to the quarter-finals.
Alcaraz made the semi-finals last year, losing to Djokovic in four sets. The Spaniard has claimed back-to-back ATP Masters 1000 Madrid trophies.
Also on the list is 14-time Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal, who entered with a protected PIF ATP Ranking of No. 9. Seeding will be based on a player’s PIF ATP Ranking the week before the event begins.
The lefty owns a historic 112-3 record at the tournament. Nadal triumphed on his last appearance in 2022. The 37-year-old returned to action this week in Barcelona, where he advanced to the second round. Nadal had last competed in January in Brisbane.
Other players to watch include two-time finalist Casper Ruud and 2021 runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas, last week’s Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters champion.
Four other players entered with a protected ranking are Marin Cilic, Denis Shapovalov, Kei Nishikori and Soonwoo Kwon. World No. 99 Luca Van Assche is the last player in the main draw based on the entry list.
The first alternates are currently David Goffin, Maximilian Marterer and J.J. Wolf. Roland Garros will be held from 26 May-9 June.
