The Detroit Lions may still pursue a defensive back on the open market, even if general manager Brad Holmes stated that the position of cornerback is not one that needs to be filled. Xavien Howard, who was just cut by the Miami Dolphins, is among the best choices.

During the annual league meeting, head coach Dan Campbell gave hints about what the team is looking for in a defensive back when talking about the worth of dealing for Carlton Davis.

“Playing man is not any different from being able to run the football or block a run. Being a good team is kind of one of our basic beliefs, Campbell added. “When called upon, you want to be able to play man. Thus, yes, I think this will allow AG (defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn) more leeway in his calling.

The 30-year-old Howard said he would be open to taking a lower salary to join a playoff contender during a recent podcast interview.

Howard declared, “I would rather take a pay cut to join a team that will advance farther in the playoffs.” “I have my money and other belongings.” I get right to the issue, asking, “How much money really need?” Trying to win a Super Bowl is always my goal.

“Winning a Super Bowl shouldn’t be impeded by financial gain. A Super Bowl is won by some people, and some people are compensated. A few people engage in both. You are unique; you do both. I wish to stand apart. Now, I want to win the Super Bowl. I’m looking forward to winning a Super Bowl because I already got paid.
