With a whole new coaching staff under first-year head coach Mike Macdonald, the Seattle Seahawks are entering a new era.
Huard: The Seahawks’ defensive signings have a common theme.
Among the staff are some well-known individuals, such as offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, who was the offensive coordinator of the UW Huskies for the previous two seasons. Some names, though, aren’t, and this is particularly the case with Grubb’s defensive teammate.
Aden Durde, the first full-time British-born coach in NFL history, was most recently the defensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys. He is now Seattle’s new defensive coordinator.
When asked on Friday’s episode of Bump and Stacy which Hawks coach he would most like to see work this season, Seattle Sports host and former wide receiver Michael Bumpus named 44-year-old Durde.
“It’s not Grubb, as I am aware of Grubb, and I believe he will succeed there.” Bumpus replied, “Confident dude, knows what he’s doing.” “Since Mike Macdonald will still be calling the plays this season, I’m considering defensive coordinator Durde.” Durde is being developed by him.
That certainly add an intriguing twist to the story. As the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens for the previous two seasons, Macdonald has enjoyed tremendous success. During his one season at Michigan in 2021, he is recognized for having greatly influenced the defense that helped the Wolverines defeat Grubb’s Huskies in the NCAA tournament.
