To prepare for their season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the New York Giants made a number of roster changes on Saturday.
Starting safety Jason Pinnock was placed on injured reserve by the Giants after he was initially declared out of the game due to a toe injury he sustained last week against the Los Angeles Rams.
Following Tyre Phillips’ placement on injured reserve due to a ruptured quad tendon last week, the Giants were left with two open roster spaces as a result of that move.
The Giants added tight end Tyree Jackson and quarterback Jacob Eason from their practice squad to their 53-man roster in order to cover those holes.
Eason was acquired as a third emergency quarterback and has been on and off the practice squad this season. Due to a back ailment, starter Tyrod Taylor was limited over the week.
Jackson, who has spent the entire season on the practice squad, made one start in the Giants’ last two games. He has 18 offensive snaps under his belt.
Mason Crosby, the placekicker, and Yodny Cajuste, the offensive tackle, were also promoted by the Giants from the practice squad.
For the New York Giants and their supporters, the disappointing 2023 season can’t come fast enough. What had appeared to be a promising campaign vanished virtually overnight.
Change will undoubtedly be in the air after a lacklustre performance, as is typically the case. This will begin with a roster revamp, during which judgements about underachievers, free agents, and large contracts must be made before bringing in fresh players.
