Elias Lindholm of the Vancouver Canucks was linked to the Boston Bruins prior to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. That was also the case earlier in the season before the Calgary Flames traded him to the Vancouver Canucks. This past summer, they attempted to add him as well.

Lindholm may choose to test the free-agent market this winter, but The Athletic’s Fluto Shinzawa thinks the Bruins will seek him because of their established and long-standing interest in him. Here is what Shinzawa had to say about it:

“However, it is unclear how long the Bruins would like to go without making a significant change in direction. The Boston Bruins would definitely give it a try if Elias Lindholm decides to explore free agency rather than remain with the Vancouver Canucks. If necessary, it would enable them to shift Zacha to the wing or give Poitras time in the AHL.”

Without a doubt, the Bruins will have the opportunity to sign a player with Lindholm’s caliber of impact this offseason. Many players have contracts that are about to expire, so they will have a lot of money to work with in the summer. This summer would be the ideal moment to get Lindholm because he is a player they obviously admire and the finest pending UFA center that could become available.

Regardless of whether Lindholm plays on the first or second line, adding him would significantly improve the Bruins’ top six. He is also a fantastic two-way forward, so if signed, he would improve Boston’s penalty kill and power play.
