Brock Huard, a former NFL quarterback, has an intriguing opinion on the matter.
Huard stated, “It’s not (safety) Quandre (Diggs). “.. Quandre probably isn’t coming back here.
A week prior to free agency, Adams, 28, was dismissed and is still unsigned.
Throughout his career, Adams, the former No. 6 overall choice, has played safety, but a lot of his best work has come when he was playing the run or blitzing the quarterback in close to the line of scrimmage. With the departure of 2023 starters Jordyn Brooks and Bobby Wagner and the signing of Tyrel Dodson and Jerome Baker to one-year contracts, the Seahawks’ linebacker room will be much different this season.
“Jamal Adams returning only as a linebacker? Could something like that not be possible under a fresh government and new staff? questioned Huard.
Pete Carroll, Adams’s previous Seattle head coach, is no longer employed by the group. Rather, Mike Macdonald, the former defensive coordinator in Baltimore, has taken over as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks.
Huard continued, “We know Mike Macdonald has taken swings at veteran guys in the past and gotten a lot of production out of them if there’s really nobody else out there in this market that’s willing to take a swing (on Adams).”
Before the 2020 season, Adams was selected to the All-Pro team twice while playing for the New York Jets. The Seahawks acquired him for two first-round picks and a third-round pick. Despite missing four games, Adams recorded 9.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss in his rookie season with the Seahawks, earning him a spot on the second team of the All-Pro roster.
