THE CLEVELAND BROWNSSTART THE CONVERSATIONThe Browns received more bad news on Wednesday. After a week full of unfortunate injury news, more could now follow.

Passenger Ogbo Okoronkwo could join a long list of teammates on IR after suffering a chest injury in Cleveland’s 31-27 win over the Jaguars.

The news comes on the same day the team placed another key safety, Grant Delpit, on IR.

While there’s a chance Delpit returns to the playoffs after recovering from his groin injury, that likely wouldn’t be the case for Okoronkwo.

“I don’t have definitive confirmation on Okoronkwo yet,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said before Wednesday’s practice.

“I’m hopeful, but it definitely looks like the season is over.”Okoronkwo actually left Sunday’s game multiple times. The former Texan initially suffered a groin injury, but eventually returned to the game.

He later left with what was known to be a season-threatening chest injury. It’s the latest blow to an injury-plagued season for the Browns, as three more players had to opt out of their season this week due to illness.

That list includes starting tackles Dawand Jones and Jedrick Wills, as well as fellow defensive lineman Maurice Hurst. In total, the Browns have lost thirteen players to in-season injuries this season.

Delpit is ranked fourteenth and is at least ready for the regular season. Okoronkwo has been a solid addition to the Browns’ defensive line this season, playing alongside the likes of Myles Garrett and Za’Darius Smith.

The former Texan racked up 31 total tackles, 12 for loss, 4.5 sacks and eight QB hits. He also has a fumble recovery on his resume.

The 28-year-old joined the Browns as a free agent this offseason and signed a three-year, $19 million contract at the start of his free agency in March.
