Edmonton: The trade deadline for 2024, also referred to as the “gift that keeps on giving,”
Eleven days have passed since the Edmonton Oilers acquired Adam Henrique, Troy Stecher, and Sam Carrick at the trade deadline. Instead of moving anyone off the team, they decided to add the three players and only receive draft picks in return.
The Oilers have now gone 2-0-2 and have scored in four straight games. Sean Walker scored two goals against the Oilers in the most recent game against the Colorado Avalanche.
Walker was reportedly the Oilers’ trade target. The most recent episode of 32 Thoughts contains some fresh information about that.
Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek talked about Walker while they were talking about the most recent Avalanche vs. Oilers game. According to Friedman, Edmonton considered hiring Sean Walker for a while before deciding against it. And Colorado managed to capture him.”
Walker would have been a great addition to the Oilers, who could have used more pace in their defensive unit. You would believe the team would have been better if they had been able to acquire Walker without having to give up any players.
The Oilers ultimately made their choice, and they now need to adjust the defensive pairs in order to find the ideal combination in time for the postseason.
