Tremayne Anchrum Jr., a guard, was signed by the Seahawks on Monday, bringing more competition to an interior offensive line that might look very different in 2024.

With Damien Lewis, the starting left guard from the previous season, leaving in free agency and Phil Haynes, the starting right guard from the beginning of the season, also a free agent, Anchrum, who has played his entire career for the Rams, mainly as a backup guard, gives the Seahawks another young guard option to contend with. Former starting center Evan Brown is also a free agent.

The Seahawks have signed Anchrum, 25, as their third offensive lineman in free agency, following tackle George Fant and center Nick Harris. Anchrum, a seventh-round selection in the 2020 draft, was an All-ACC tackle in his final season as a Clemson student and a starter on the squad that won the national championship in his junior year.

Anchrum played in 31 games with one start during his four years with the Rams. He is hoping to fight for a larger role in Seattle.

After signing, he remarked, “I wanted to come somewhere where there was opportunity.” “This organization’s style of ballplay is highly admired. Because we play similar opponents and so on, I’ve always followed the Rams. So, when I saw who they chose as head coach, I thought, “Okay, they’re retooling for a really good year and to be a really good franchise going forward.” I’d like to take part in something unique.”

Anchrum continued, saying that the chance to fight for a position in Seattle was persuaded by the Seahawks.

He remarked, “They were like, ‘There’s opportunity.'” “I’m always willing to compete and put up a fight. I’ve always been competitive in everything, but football in particular. I want to enter and have an influence and a difference.”

Anchrum, who played guard in the NFL and tackle in college, characterizes himself as a versatile player who is “tough, physical, smart, a guy who loves ball.” I’m adaptable, and I make an effort to contribute wherever I can.”
