Red Bull’s supremacy on the track is still overshadowed by the controversy off the track. Christian Horner was recently exonerated of charges related to misconduct following an internal team inquiry. But now that Jos Verstappen has openly sided with the female employee who accused Horner, the story has taken a different turn.
Early in February 2024, he was accused of engaging in “inappropriate behavior,” which sparked the dispute. Although Horner was ultimately found not guilty of any misconduct, the investigation did result in the lady who filed the complaint being suspended because, according to officials, she had been “dishonest.”
Verstappen Sr. backed the employee, but this development caused the F1 world to question the investigation’s fairness.
Verstappen made it clear that he supported the suspended worker in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, saying, “I sympathise with the woman, with all that she went through, but we will see what happens.”
“Red Bull seem to know what they are doing with her, we will see,” he said in response to another question concerning her future. However, I believe she should come out and observe what transpires. I don’t know all that’s going on with her.”
Before this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Horner stated at a news conference that it’s time to “draw a line” in the sand. Verstappen, though, feels that it’s too late to ignore it.
“I believe that right now is a little late for that. That’s good if that’s what he wants, but I doubt it will work out. I don’t want to talk about this too much since it will lead to issues. However, Max’s happiness is what matters to me the most; I just want him to be content.”
