It’s the opening day of the ACC Tournamenton the hardwood as the 15 teams of the conference look to earn the tournament title and an automatic bid to March Madness in the nation’s capital.

The 15th-seededLouisville Cardinalsare on the road as they take on the 10th-seeded NC State WolfpackTuesday afternoon in a first-round matchup. Louisville fell 67-61 to Boston College in their regular season finale Saturday, failing to cover the line as a 4.5-point underdog.

NC State was downed 81-73 by Pitt on the road in their regular season finale, failing to cover the line as a 6.5-point underdog, in their previous contest. In the all-time series between the teams, each team has 13 wins but the Wolfpack have won the last three meetings, including an 89-83 road win in the most recent matchup on January 13.

 

Louisville battled but suffered their seventh straight loss as they were upended by Boston College in their previous contest Saturday. The Cardinals finished the regular season 8-23 overall and in the basement of the ACC with a 3-17 mark in conference play.

Against Boston College, Louisville scored the first four points before giving up a 17-1 run to trail 17-5 and never got closer than three after that. The Cardinals were down 10 at the half and got within four before giving up a 12-0 run that left them down 53-37 with 14:04 to play, en route to the loss.

Louisville shot 33.3% from the floor, including four of 17 from three-point range, and was beaten 42-31 on the glass in the game. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield led the Cardinals with 14 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
