Sheldon joins Taylor on the all-defense team of the league, while Taylor and Taylor Thierry was named to the Big Ten second team, and Rebeka Mikulasikova received honorable mention.

With a 25-3 overall record and a 16-2 record in Big Ten play, the Buckeyes won their 18th conference championship as a program. That includes four under McGuff, though the titles from 2017 and 2018 were revoked due to NCAA infractions committed by an assistant coach. In 2022, the Buckeyes won the league once more. McGuff is a graduate of Badin High School.

 

Ranking third in the Big Ten in scoring (18.2), fourth in steals (2.1), fourth in free throw percentage (.869), sixth in field goal percentage (.513), and seventh in assist/turnover, Sheldon is a nominee for the Nancy Lieberman Award as the best point guard in the country.

McMahon, a sophomore from Centerville who won the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award the previous year, leads the team in rebounds per game with 6.4 and averages 14.1 points per game this season.

 

She has 23 double-figure performances and five double-doubles.

With an average of 10.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game, Taylor leads the Big Ten in thefts per game (2.2) and is seventh in blocks per game (0.9).

In terms of field goal percentage (.620) and three-point percentage (.481), Thierry leads the Buckeyes, while Mikulasikova averages 9.3 points and 3.1 rebounds weekly.

Caitlin Clark of Iowa won the Big Ten Player of the Year award for the third straight year, making history as the only three-time winner of the award since it was first given out in 1983. The other winners of the honor are Ohio State players Kelsey Mitchell (2015–18), Jantel Lavender (2008–2011), and Jessica Davenport (2005–07). (The only winner to win four times is Lavender.)

Taylor joins guards Kim Wilburn (2006), Shavelle Little (2008 and 2009), and Amber Stokes (2012) as the fourth Ohio State player to win Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.

The Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with Ohio State as the top seed.
