Jameis Winston, currently the backup quarterback and fan favorite for the New Orleans Saints, is set to hit free agency this offseason. A return to New Orleans is not out of the picture, as Winston has said that he loves the city. If the Saints are willing to welcome him back, they have to be an option for Winston.

However, Winston has stated that he is looking for a starting role going into next season. That complicates things in New Orleans, as the team is preparing for year two with Derek Carr as QB1. Since Winston is hoping to start, let’s look at three teams that might be able to offer him a starting role.

In Minnesota, the future of Kirk Cousins is uncertain. If he walks this offseason, then the Vikings are going to be in the market to pick up a quarterback, especially since they want to maximize wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Winston would have all of the tools to succeed in Minnesota.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell spent two seasons under Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay. He runs a wide zone system, which is a system that is quarterback friendly. If Winston takes his time and finds the correct read, which he can, he will work well in that system.

Jameis Winston would have all of the help he needs in Minnesota. The Vikings have amazing receiving threats such as Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson. There certainly isn’t a lack of talent. These receivers should make the transition to Minnesota as seamless as possible if a starting position is available.
