America’s legendary stand-up comedian Richard Lewis died on Tuesday night at the age of 76 from a heart attack. The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actor declared in April of last year that he would be giving up stand-up comedy due to a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. After the actor passed away, fans showered him with honors. NFL player Christian McCaffrey posted a message from Larry David on Instagram.
Christian McCaffrey, a running back with the 49ers, shared Larry David’s comment from an Instagram post with the hashtag “RIP” on Instagram stories in honor of Lewis’s passing. Lewis, who was reared in New Jersey but was born in Brooklyn, gained notoriety in the 1970s by appearing on late-night television shows and performing in New York City clubs.
Richard Lewis was an ardent Ohio State Buckeye from the bottom of his heart as well. Lewis was an Ohio State student who was proud of himself long before he made us all laugh out loud on TV and in movies. From there, in 1969, he graduated with a degree in marketing. Even on College GameDay, when he was cracking jokes, he carried his loud and passionate Buckeye attitude with him.
He detested one team as much as he adored the Buckeyes. The Michigan Wolverines were the one thing Lewis hated more than poorly written punchlines. He was not afraid to express his notorious contempt for the team from up north. “I detest Michigan.” I have complete mistrust for anyone who attended the school.
His affection for Ohio State was genuine; during an interview with Eleven Dubcast, he spoke up about his fondest memories of his time on campus. “It was the best period of my life,” I still maintain close friendships with the friends I established today. I will always love schools, even if I am not around to enjoy them anymore. Undoubtedly, the Buckeyes will be without one of their most ardent supporters.
