More bad news for Carlos Alcaraz: according to tennis enthusiasts, Jannik Sinner will tie or even surpass his Grand Slam total before year’s end. The two-time Major winner’s surprising losses and injury sustained in Rio have made for a dismal start to 2024. Sinner, meanwhile, is dominating the Australian Open and is in the best shape of his life. He has not lost all year. The Italian will have to defeat Alcaraz by winning three of the four Slams in a single year, a feat that Novak Djokovic has already accomplished three times.

Right now, Sinner is the man to watch. Since the US Open, the 22-year-old has only lost twice and triumphed over Djokovic, Alcaraz, and Daniil Medvedev. He carried over his success from an amazing 2023—winning in Beijing and Vienna and assisting Italy in winning the Davis Cup—into the new campaign.

The world No. 3 has won the Australian Open and the Rotterdam trophy to support his success. He has not lost a single match this year. Formerly, Sinner was the only up-and-coming player to challenge Djokovic for the major titles; however, Sinner has since proven to be one of the greatest players in the world.

And now that Alcaraz has won two Grand Slam events, the 2022 US Open and the 2023 Wimbledon, tennis aficionados think the Italian will surpass him. When asked which player would finish the season with the most Majors, Sinner received 73% of the vote from Express Sport readers, blowing Alcaraz out of the water.
