The San Diego Chargers will be losing Austin Ekeler soon. That was quite evident from what he said.
After Los Angeles’ season ended last month, Ekeler stated, “I’m not going to be with these guys anymore, and it’s one of those journeys that I’ll always remember but sad that it has to end.”
Maybe he’ll stick with the Eagles to finish off his career. David Kenyon of Bleacher Report says that Ekeler would be a good fit in Philadelphia.
Kenyon recently stated, “[Ekeler] remains a valuable and versatile back when healthy.” “How the 28-year-old is managing his role, finances, and team competitiveness on what is probably going to be his last expensive contract is the question.
For example, Dallas might offer $7-8 million annually to make a big impression. Though probably only on a one-year deal, Philly is a perfect fit.”
The Eagles could gain a lot from adding Ekeler because of his ability to catch passes out of the backfield. In each of his last five seasons, Ekeler has over 50 receptions and over 400 receiving yards. Over his career, he has also scored 30 receiving touchdowns.
Ekeler is the epitome of a dual-threat back, and given that Philadelphia’s offense is likely to place more emphasis on the screen game going forward, Ekeler might be a great fit.
