We received the news that former coach Chuck Dickerson passed away, which makes today very sad for the Buffalo Bills family and the Bills Mafia.

Dickerson served as the Buffalo Bills’ assistant coach under Marv Levy from 1987 to 1991. In Super Bowls XXV and XXVI, he oversaw the defensive line for the Buffalo Bills.

When Dickerson was an assistant coach with the Buffalo Bills, he was a highly vocal person. He made fun of the offensive lineman from Washington who went by the nickname “The Hogs” during the Bills’ second Super Bowl, which was one of the most memorable moments.

Dickerson played college football for two years at the University of Florida before turning into a coach. He also played briefly in the AFL with Cleveland and Boston.

For a number of years, Dickerson would put his “talking” abilities to use as a vocal member of the community’s media covering the Buffalo Bills.

Dickerson’s web obituary states that he is survived by his granddaughters Katherine (and her husband, Brackston), Elizabeth (and her husband, Joseph), Hannah, and Madeline; and his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Karen Dickerson. He was fortunate to have had time to spend with Cameron, his great-grandson.

Dickerson, who was eighty-six, died following a brief sickness struggle.

Dickerson requested that in lieu of flowers, individuals wishing to send him money should go to the Orphans of the Storm animal sanctuary, which is located close to his hometown of Deerfield, Illinois.
